No one wants to share "secrets" in the interior design field but I'm here to tell you one secret program many designers and decorators use. Not all of my clients are visual and can visualize my vision from a floor plan and elevations. The key to selling my clients on my designs is to bring their project to life, before even one item is purchased! The fastest way I have found to do this is with a program called SketchUp. My clients always appreciate how fast this program is because, fast = money saver.
I'm excited to walk you through a piece of my design process and show you a bit of the behind-the-scenes of a project I recently did in Handford for The Cupcake Route.
This adorable family owned and operated business quickly outgrew their home kitchen with the increased demand for their delicious cupcakes. Their cupcake truck would travel daily, selling out several hundred cupcakes in less than two hours. They were in desperate need of a bakery location. Their saving grace came in in the form of an old Dairy Queen in the Hanford Mall. The site had been vacant for years and was in desperate need of updating as well as making it ADA accessible.
A couple weeks after our consultation, I met with my client to present my ideas with a design board and simple elevations drawn by SketchUp.
Once the direction of the project was approved, we needed to pull up 3D drawings in SketchUp for approval by the mall. This became key because without approval from the mall, there would be no bakery.
With approval for the design from both my client and the mall, we immediately started construction and the real-life transformation began!
