Laying the Bricks For My Future

Here I am nearing in at 27 and I still don't know exactly what my future looks like.

Sometimes I panic a bit with the unknown, and yet I don't want to have such a rigid outline for my future and career that I don't leave room for changes. I have done so much growing the last 10 years that I can't imagine who I will become 10 years from now and how different my life and goals will look like.

Two and a half years ago I started Graced Design with a focus in handmade wreaths and I also began dabbling in interior design, which was my major in school. I was far more interested in making wreaths and branching out into different handmade home decor for the ease of being a stay-at-home mom with my young daughter while earning some money to help pay the bills. In January of 2018 I got a call from a local teacher who had a business in downtown Reedley he wanted to renovate. We scheduled to meet that afternoon and take a look at his project.

Imagine my surprise when I pulled up to one of the buildings in town I had admired since I moved here 7 years ago. I gasped at the gorgeous brick that lined the interior and exterior walls (If you went to design school with me, you know I incorporated brick into every project I worked on. Brick was my signature). The project was so large that I had to go home and consider if I was skilled and experienced enough to take on such a massive design job. I realized this was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I couldn't pass it up... That was, if they even called me to let me know I got the job. A day later my phone rang and the voice on the other end said, "You got the job!". I burst into tears as soon as I hung up the phone. I knew instantly this was the first brick I was laying for my future!
